Meg's Diary

21st Blogiversary

Hello. I just realized something:

This blog is 21 years old.

That’s right. My blog is old enough to drink.

How did my little blog grow up so fast? Who would have thought way back when I wrote its inaugural entry (you can read it here), this blog would still be around 21 years later?

Here’s what it looked like back then:

Remember those days? I do!

But do I prefer those days? No!

I’m sure you’ve seen a lot of early 2000s nostalgia out there. I’ve seen it, too. And I totally get why some people might long for those days, especially the fashion. I myself have always loved pink trench coats with brown (suede) cowboy boots, apparently my go-to outfit in the early 2000s.

But that doesn’t mean I want to go back to the 2000s! We’ve made a ton of progress since then (even though it might not always feel like it).

Do we still have work to do? OF COURSE.

But I definitely don’t miss the old days.

That being said, I couldn’t help noticing a few weird similarities to my current life in that blog entry from way back in 2003:

  • I’m STILL trying to tame a neurotic rescue cat.
  • And I’m STILL talking to Debra Martin Chase, the producer of The Princess Diaries movie (positive news about that hopefully coming soon).
  • And I’m STILL working with Jesse and Suze from The Mediator series (positive news about that hopefully coming soon as well).
  • And I’m STILL frantically trying to finish up books.

2003 Meg

In May 2024, those books include:

  • A graphic novel series for kids called Detective Baby (recently announced in Publishers Weekly), illustrated by the amazing Amelia Allore. The first book in the series will be out in 2025, and I can’t wait for everyone to read it!
  • A refreshed edition of my 2003 historical romance Educating Caroline, coming in September 2024, with a new cover and prologue (warning: this a book for adults. It has a lot of circa 2003 sex scenes in it. IYKYK).
  • Something new! I know there’s been a new adult book by me listed for sale on various book sites (thank you to everyone who pre-ordered it), but that book will now be about something else, release date TBD. I’m so grateful to HarperCollins/Avon for so giving me such a generous extension due to my heart valve surgery last year! I’m feeling stronger every day, and can’t wait for what’s next.

Spring 2023

Spring 2024

In the meantime, THANK YOU to all of you readers out there for helping to make this possible. I feel so privileged to have been working as long as I have in this industry, and to have made so many fantastic friends along the way. This whole thing has been a dream come true.

I can’t thank you all enough for sticking by me – and this blog – for all these years. Cheers to what comes next, for all of us!

More later.

Much love,

Meg
